Sources close to the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) camp have told RevSportz that MS Dhoni, their talismanic captain who led them to a record-equalling fifth IPL title on Monday night, might be admitted to the Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital and Medical Research Institute in Mumbai for a series of tests later this week. Dhoni, who has been nursing a serious injury right through the IPL, showed exemplary character and courage to play through the pain.

However, when asked at the post-match interview if he would continue playing, he alluded to his knee and said that it was not something he could say with any certainty before the next six or seven months. For a while now, India’s greatest white-ball captain, who turns 42 in July, has struggled with niggles and injuries. Getting admitted for tests at a super-speciality hospital would suggest that the matter is serious. Millions of fans will hope that Dhoni emerges from this episode fully fit and healthy, and in the right frame of mind to play one more season.
