During his debut Test match, India’s Mukesh Kumar had a surreal experience when former captain Virat Kohli rushed to embrace him after he took his first Test wicket. The unexpected gesture overwhelmed Kumar, who had admired Kohli’s remarkable performances for years.
Despite the challenging conditions of bowling on a pitch, the right-arm pacer showcased his skills, finishing the first innings with impressive figures of 2 wickets for 48 runs in 18 overs.
“When I got the wicket, Virat (Kohli) bhaiya ran up and hugged me. I was in a different world. The man I have watched all these years on TV and looked up to is hugging you. It felt great,” Mukesh told his senior pace bowling partner Mohammed Siraj in an interaction for BCCI.TV.
Having showcased his skills with the red-ball in the first innings, Mukesh will now aim to replicate his early impression in the ongoing fourth innings of the Trinidad Test.
