In a one-sided contest, India comprehensively defeated Ireland by 201 runs in their second match of the ICC Under-19 World Cup 2024, securing their position at the top of the points table. The pivotal role in this victory was played by Musheer Khan, who delivered a stellar century, scoring 118 runs and propelling India beyond the 300-run mark.
The bowling duo of Naman Tiwari (4/53) and Saumy Pandey (3/21) complemented the batting performance by collectively capturing seven wickets, swiftly dismantling the Irish batting lineup in under 30 overs.
Facing the daunting target of 302, Ireland encountered early setbacks as Saumy, the hero of India’s previous win against Bangladesh, dismissed Jordan Neill. The collapse intensified when Tiwari removed Hunter in the 9th over, leaving Ireland struggling to recover. The relentless duo of Tiwari and Pandey continued to wreak havoc, preventing Ireland from finding any answers.

Although Oliver Riley and Daniel Forkin showed resistance with a 39-run partnership, they could not prevent the inevitable. Eventually, Uday Saharan concluded Ireland’s innings. Earlier, India had suffered early setbacks in their innings as Adarsh Singh and Arshin Kulkarni were dismissed, reducing them to 80/2 in the 20th over.
Nevertheless, a resilient partnership emerged between Musheer and Uday, adding a crucial 156 runs. This partnership played a pivotal role in propelling India to a score well beyond par. While Uday contributed with a well-crafted fifty before his dismissal, Musheer showcased remarkable batting prowess, reaching a run-a-ball century.
In the final 10 overs, Aravelly Avanish (22 off 13) and Sachin Dhas (21 off 9) started with the bat as India accumulated 119 runs in that phase and posted a formidable total, marking the highest score at the venue in the tournament thus far.
