Abhimanyu Easwaran, who will be leading East Zone in the upcoming Duleep Trophy, shared his thoughts after being left out of the Indian cricket team for the West Indies tour, expressing a sense of disappointment. The prolific run-getter also noted that he won’t give up on his dream of playing for India, and would look for continuous improvement.

Easwaran, who racked up 798 runs in the last Ranji season in eight games at an average of 66.50, has toured with the Test side in England and Bangladesh but has never been a regular member. He has been in the reckoning for some time now, but he failed to make the cut for the national side for the upcoming tour of the West Indies.

“I mean it is a little disappointing, to be honest but again, it is about getting my focus back to where I wanted to be and my game. I want to spend my energy on working my skill whenever that opportunity comes. I know that the opportunity would come soon and I want to be best prepared for that. So my focus is on trying to improve as a cricketer and be ready when the opportunity comes. There will be snubs, there will be setbacks, there will be times when things don’t go your way, but again, it is about how badly you want it and never giving up,” said Easwaran in an interview with India Today.
