Nathan Lyon formally ruled out of rest of the Ashes

Australia’s ace off-spinner, Nathan Lyon, has been sidelined for the remainder of the Ashes series due to a significant calf tear that he suffered on day 2 while fielding in the Lord’s Test. Todd Murphy could replace Lyon for the third Test at Leeds.

Murphy showcased his skills during Australia’s recent tour of India, taking 14 wickets at an average of 25.21, including an impressive debut performance of 7 for 124 in Nagpur.

Furthermore, left-handed batsman Matthew Renshaw has been released from the Australian squad but will remain in England as a backup in the event of further injuries within the touring party.
