Ahead of the Qualifier 1 match against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at the MA Chidambaram Stadium, Hardik Pandya, the Gujarat Titans (GT) captain, acknowledged all that he had learned from observing MS Dhoni, who had led CSK into the play-offs for a 12th season. He also laughed off the suggestion that Dhoni was a serious or intimidating individual.

“I’ll always be a Mahendra Singh Dhoni fan, as are many fans out there and so many cricket lovers,” Pandya said in a video released by the Titans. “You need to be a proper devil to hate Mahendra Singh Dhoni. A lot of people think Mahi is serious and all that.

For me, I crack jokes and I don’t see him as a Mahendra Singh Dhoni. Obviously, I’ve learnt a lot of things from him, a lot of positive things. I’ve learnt from him just while watching, not even much talking.”
