
The morning session of Day 1 at the IndianOil New Delhi 2025 World Para Athletics Championships ended with the Netherlands topping the medal table with two golds. Poland followed with a gold and a bronze, while China, Colombia, Japan, and the UAE also secured a gold each.
China’s decorated athlete Wen Xiaoyan won the Women’s Long Jump T37 with a 5.32m leap, while Japan’s Kenya Karasawa claimed his country’s first gold, clocking 15:23.38 in the Men’s 5000m T11 final ahead of Paralympic champion Yeltsin Jacques.
For India, the standout moment came from Deepthi Jeevanji, who advanced to the Women’s 400m T20 final after winning her heat. She will aim to secure India’s first medal in the evening session.
In the Women’s 100m T71, UAE’s Thekra Alkaabi set both a world and Asian record with a 19.89 finish.
