In the ongoing Scotland T20 Tri-Series, the second match between the Netherlands and Nepal was decided after a third Super Over — the first time ever in men’s professional cricket that a game has gone into a third Super Over.
Nepal won the toss and elected to bowl first. With Vikramjit Singh scoring 30 and Teja Nidamanuru adding 35, the Netherlands posted 152/7 in their 20 overs.
Rohit Paudel top-scored for Nepal with 48 runs, while Kushal Bhurtel contributed 34. A last-ball four by Nandan Yadav helped Nepal reach 152, tying the match and forcing a Super Over — and that’s when the real drama began.
Nepal batted first in the Super Over and scored 19 runs, but a last-ball four by Max O’Dowd helped the Netherlands level the score at 19, taking the contest to a second Super Over.
With this victory, the Netherlands are now in second place
This time, the Netherlands put up 17 runs. Dipendra Singh Airee responded with a last-ball six to help Nepal match the total once again, pushing the match into a third Super Over.
However, Nepal couldn’t score any runs in the third Super Over, losing two wickets in four balls. Michael Levitt then hit a six off the first ball of the Netherlands’ innings to seal the win for his team.
With this thrilling victory, the Netherlands are now in second place with two points from two games and a net run rate of -0.975. Scotland remain at the top with two points from one game and a net run rate of +1.950, while Nepal are in third place.
