West Indies wicketkeeper-batter Nicholas Pooran has been fined by the match referee Richie Richardson for violating Level 1 of the ICC Code of Conduct during the second T20I against India.
Pooran will incur a penalty of 15 percent of his match fee due to his criticism of the umpire’s decision. Furthermore, Pooran has been issued one demerit point, marking his first offense within a 24-month period.
The breach pertains to Article 2.7 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel. Pooran has acknowledged his mistake and has accepted the penalty of a reprimand as proposed by the ICC match referee. Consequently, no formal hearing was necessary.
