No fanfare at London airport for Team India? Here’s the real reason

Team India started their camp in Beckenham on Sunday as the Shubman Gill-led unit gears up for the grueling five-Test series against England, starting June 20 at Headingley Leeds. As the Indian cricket team prepares for the series, there are reports doing the rounds that no fans were spotted at the Heathrow Airport in London to welcome the team despite it being such a massive series, linking the lack of fanfare due to Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma’s Test retirements.

However, sources have confirmed to Revsportz that the Indian team came out of a private terminal and hence no general public had an idea when and where the team is coming from.

With Kohli and Rohit being at the heart of fanfare in world cricket, many reports since their Test retirements have emerged that the longest format of the game will witness a dip without two of the biggest stars. However, to simply link it to a team arrival from a private terminal without much substance shows how hungry the media is for likes and upvotes from such fanbases. Also as already reported the ticket sales have been hugely strong and almost all Tests are sold out.

Meanwhile, the entire Indian team was present at the practice camp in Beckenham, the same venue where the Australian team also prepared for the upcoming ICC World Test Championship final. Upon the completion of the second unofficial Test between India A and England Lions, India A players will link up with the main squad. An intra-squad match is scheduled to take place from June 13 in Beckenham.
