Guwahati, 1 June 2025: NorthEast United FC is delighted to announce the signing of talented Indian striker Lalrinzuala Lalbiaknia on a long-term deal. Lalrinzuala, 23, joins the Highlanders from Aizawl FC after his contract with them expired at the end of the 2024-25 season and has committed his future to the Highlanders till the end of the 2027 season.

Lalrinzuala, one of the most exciting forwards in Indian football, impressed with his goal-scoring prowess in the I-League and now takes the next step in his career with NorthEast United FC. Known for his intelligent movement, sharp finishing, and high work rate, he adds depth and dynamism to Juan Pedro Benali’s squad.

Lalrinzuala has been one of the most talked-about Indian strikers in recent seasons. He rose to prominence in the 2023-24 I-League campaign, where he netted 15 goals and provided 3 assists, setting a new benchmark for Indian forwards. In doing so, he broke the record for most goals scored by an Indian in a single I-League season, surpassing Sunil Chhetri (2013-14) and Mohammed Rafi (2009-10).

His red-hot form earned him a call-up to the Indian national team camp under then-head coach Igor Stimac. Lalrinzuala followed it up with another strong season in 2024-25, scoring 12 crucial goals for Aizawl FC.
