Ahead of RCB clash, DC pace bowler Nortje returns home due to personal emergency

Delhi Capitals have been dealt a severe blow as fast bowler Anrich Nortje has returned home because of a personal emergency. The South African cricketer will be unavailable for the side’s clash against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), at the Arun Jaitley Stadium.

At the moment, it is also unclear whether he will return to India to play in the IPL. Incidentally, the pace bowler had missed the first two games of the tournament because of his national commitments. In the eight matches he has played since then, he has taken seven wickets and has been an integral part of the side.

In the absence of Nortje, left-arm pace bowler Khaleel Ahmed and veteran speedster Ishant Sharma will be tasked with additional responsibilities of spearheading the pace attack.

Capitals are currently placed at the bottom of the IPL points table with just six points to their name. From here on, they need to virtually win every game to have a chance of progressing to the playoffs.
