Bangladesh T20I skipper Litton Das opened up about the uncertainty surrounding his team’s participation in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, saying that it was not safe for him to comment.
Litton, who is slated to lead the team in the World Cup, emphasised that, like others, there is no clarity over whether Bangladesh will take part in the mega event.
“Are you sure we are going to play in the World Cup? From my side, I am uncertain; everyone is uncertain,” Litton told reporters when asked about the wickets on offer during the BPL and whether they were ideal preparation for the upcoming World Cup. “I think the whole of Bangladesh is uncertain at this moment. No answer. I understand the question you are going to ask. It is not safe for me. No answer.”
When asked next about the ongoing geopolitical tensions, Litton once again declined to comment.
“It’s not safe. Not safe. Not safe. No answer. Thank you, brother. And please don’t take offence at my answer,” said Litton.
Ever since Mustafizur Rahman was released by KKR from their squad, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has taken a stance against travelling to India, citing security reasons. It is learnt that the ICC will not make any last-minute changes to the schedule, which was prepared last year, and the matches will go ahead as planned. Despite this, the BCB remains firm on the idea of relocating their matches.
