Indian leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal observed that his current focus is on the ongoing T20I series against West Indies rather than contemplating his role in the forthcoming Asia Cup and ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup. These significant events will unfold in the 50-over format, a domain where Chahal’s involvement has been sporadic since his inclusion in the 2019 World Cup squad.
“The only thing I am focused on is that I am here, there are four matches left and I have to perform well in it. I don’t think about things that are not in my hand. I think step by step. I am not thinking about the Asia Cup or the World Cup, I am only thinking about the T20I series against West Indies,” he said in the pre-match conference of the second T20I.
Scheduled for later this month, from August 30 to September 17, the Asia Cup 2023 is slated to transpire in Sri Lanka and Pakistan. Subsequently, the ODI World Cup is anticipated to occur on home turf from October 5 to November 19. Amid these impending contests, Chahal’s immediate priority remains contributing effectively to the ongoing T20I engagements against West Indies.
