Former India spinner Harbhajan Singh has described the India-Pakistan rivalry as a one-sided affair. Harbhajan shared a post on social media featuring Indian openers Abhishek Sharma and Shubman Gill in a heated exchange with Pakistani pacer Haris Rauf, where it was originally written ‘The Greatest Rivalry’.

Harbhajan replaced the ‘greatest’ word with ‘one-sided’. He wrote in the caption: “The One Sided Rivalry (he used three laughing emojis). Chak de India.”

After defeating Pakistan comfortably by six wickets in the super-four encounter of Asia Cup 2025, India’s captain Suryakumar Yadav said in the post-match press conference, “You guys should stop asking questions about the rivalry between India-Pakistan.”

Surya justified his point with numerical examples.

“According to me, if the two teams are playing 15-20 games, and the scoreline is 7-7 or 8-7, then it is called a rivalry.10-0, 10-1 — I don’t know what the stat is, but this is not a rivalry anymore.” said Surya.

India outplayed Pakistan both times that they faced each other in this year’s Asia Cup. In the first match, Pakistan could only manage to score 127 runs, and India won easily by seven wickets with 25 balls to spare. The second time they clashed, India won by six wickets.

Following the retirements of experienced players, Pakistan have found it difficult to win against India, and in the last few years, the gap in quality between the two teams has widened. India have defeated Pakistan consecutively in the last four T20Imatches.
