Wicketkeeper-batter Quinton de Kock has come out of retirement and has been included in the ODI squad for the three-match series against Pakistan. Temba Bavuma will miss the tour after sustaining an injury during the recent tour of England. The Proteas Test and ODI skipper is expected to recover in six to eight weeks.
Aiden Markram will lead the Test team in his absence. Zubayr Hamza has been recalled, along with Simon Harmer. Keshav Maharaj will be available only for the second Test. Lungi Ngidi and Dane Paterson have been dropped, with South Africa opting for a spin-heavy squad featuring
Senuran Muthusamy and Prenelan Subrayen alongside Harmer and Maharaj.
For the ODIs, in the absence of Bavuma, Matthew Breetzke will lead the team, which sees a maiden call-up for Donovan Ferreira. Bjorn Fortuin and George Linde have been recalled to the 50-over set-up.
David Miller will lead the T20I side for the three T20Is against Pakistan. Reeza Hendricks has been recalled, while all-format players like Aiden Markram and Kagiso Rabada have been rested for the white-ball leg of the Pakistan tour.
Uncapped Rivaldo Moonsamy has earned a maiden call-up in the 14-member squad, which will be led by Donovan Ferreira for the one-off T20I against Namibia, to be played at a new stadium in Windhoek.
