The Pakistan Cricket Board is gearing up for a crucial training camp at the ICC Academy in Dubai to prepare the players for two upcoming tournaments, a tri-nation T20 series against Afghanistan and the UAE, and the Asia Cup 2025. The camp is slated to begin on 22 August, allowing the team to adapt to the UAE’s conditions ahead of the high-stakes competitions. However, it remains to be seen whether the preparatory camp will help the out-of-form Pakistan side save their blushes against a red-hot Indian team on 14 September in Dubai.
The tri-nation T20 series, featuring Pakistan, Afghanistan, and the UAE, is set to commence on 29 August at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium and will conclude on 7 September. Pakistan will kick off their campaign against Afghanistan on 29 August. The tournament follows a double round-robin format, with each team playing the others twice. The top two teams will advance to the final on 7 September. The PCB may make two to three changes to the squad for this series, potentially testing new talent or adjusting strategies ahead of the Asia Cup. It will also help the PCB make a final decision on the inclusion of star players Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan for the Asia Cup.
Following the tri-nation series, Pakistan will shift focus to the Asia Cup 2025, which will be held in the UAE from 9 to 28 September in the T20I format. The tournament, which was briefly uncertain due to a standoff between the PCB and the BCCI, has now been confirmed. Eight teams, India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, Hong Kong, Oman, and hosts UAE, will compete. They are divided into two groups of four, with the top two teams from each group progressing to the Super Four stage.
The Asia Cup will open on 9 September with a clash between Afghanistan and Hong Kong in Dubai. Fans are eagerly awaiting the high-profile India vs Pakistan match scheduled for 14 September, a fixture that promises to draw significant attention.
The PCB is expected to field a full-strength squad for the Asia Cup, aiming to capitalise on the team’s preparation during the UAE training camp and their performance in the tri-nation series.
