Pakistan will host Afghanistan and Sri Lanka in a tri-nation T20I series, scheduled to be played from 17 to 29 November, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) announced on Sunday.
This will be Pakistan’s first time hosting a triangular series.
It will also mark Afghanistan’s first T20I assignment in Pakistan.
All three teams will play each other twice, before the top two advance to the final in Lahore on 29 November.
“We look forward to hosting Sri Lanka and Afghanistan for Pakistan’s maiden T20I tri-series,” said PCB Chief Operating Officer, Sumair Ahmed Syed. “This event will not only offer excellent preparation for next year’s ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, but also present fans with exciting cricket across venues.”
“Earlier this year, the PCB successfully delivered the ICC Champions Trophy and the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup Qualifier. These achievements underline our capacity and readiness to host back-to-back international events at the highest level,” he added.
Host nation Pakistan will take on Afghanistan in the tri-series opener at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium on 17 November. A day later, Afghanistan will once again be in action when they face Sri Lanka in the second match, on 19 November, at the same venue.
The caravan will then move to Lahore, where five matches will be played, including the final. Pakistan will play back-to-back games — first against Sri Lanka on 22 November, and then against Afghanistan on 23 November. Sri Lanka will play their last two matches on 25 and 27 November, against Afghanistan and Pakistan respectively.
