Delhi Capitals (DC) handed a debut cap to their 21-year-old Madhav Tiwari from Madhya Pradesh earlier today in their clash against Punjab Kings (PBKS) in Dharamsala. However, he bowled only one over, conceding 14 runs without taking a wicket. The game was eventually suspended after just 10.1 overs of play, at which stage PBKS were 122/1.

Who is Madhav Tiwari?

Tiwari developed his game at Amay Khurasiya’s Cricket Academy and stood out in various age-group tournaments across Madhya Pradesh. He represented Indore at the Under-15 level and later captained the Under-18 side. His performances in the Senior Division MK Bhaya Trophy were particularly notable, where he emerged as the top wicket-taker and showcased his potential as a pace-bowling all-rounder.

He brings some experience from domestic T20 leagues. He represented Bhopal Leopards in the Madhya Pradesh T20 League, where he took three wickets with an economy rate of 10.5 and scored 72 runs at a blistering strike rate of 205.7.

Earlier this year, he played for Jain Irrigation in the DY Patil T20 Cup 2025, claiming two wickets at an economy of 8.9 and adding 23 runs with the bat at a strike rate of 109.5. Versatile in the middle and lower order, he has batted in positions five through eight and holds an impressive overall strike rate nearing 170.

He claimed a hat-trick in a domestic match within the Indore division against Rewa Division last year, finishing the game with an impressive six-wicket haul. In today’s game, he came into the playing XI in place of Vipraj Nigam, and DC paid ₹40 lakh at the IPL 2025 auction to acquire his services.
