Punjab Kings (PBKS) beat Mumbai Indians (MI) by five wickets in Qualifier 2 today, June 1, in Ahmedabad.

Here are the top three moments from the PBKS vs MI clash in IPL 2025:

Nehal Wadhera and Shreyas Iyer’s Partnership

Nehal Wadhera came to bat when Josh Inglis got out and PBKS were at 72/3 while chasing a big target of 204. From there, he took charge alongside captain Shreyas Iyer, and together they stitched a match-winning partnership for PBKS.

They not only kept their wickets intact but also ensured the required run rate didn’t rise too much—one of the key reasons behind PBKS’s win. Iyer and Wadhera put together 84 runs off just 47 balls. Wadhera scored 48 off 29 balls during this partnership and played a gem of an innings.

PBKS Nullified MI’s Biggest Threat

MI often rely on Jasprit Bumrah to deliver crucial breakthroughs. But today, Josh Inglis didn’t let Bumrah settle in his first over, hitting him for 20 runs. PBKS then adopted a smart strategy—playing Bumrah out carefully without giving him any wickets, which they executed perfectly.

Shreyas Iyer’s Captain’s Knock

Iyer played the most important knock of PBKS’s campaign this year. First, he stitched an 84-run partnership with Wadhera, and then, after Wadhera’s dismissal, ensured he stayed till the end to finish the match.

Iyer took a few balls early in his innings to settle in, but once his eyes were set, he kept the run rate in check throughout. He remained unbeaten on 87 off just 41 balls, at a strike rate of 212.20. His innings included five fours and eight sixes—some of them huge.
