Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) legend Virat Kohli had a fiery verbal exchange with Harpreet Brar in the 37th match of IPL 2025 in Chandigarh on April 20. A video went viral on social media in which the RCB batter told the PBKS spinner that it’s been 20 years and he even knows his coach.

Kohli was at the non-striker’s end when he was heard saying: “20 saal ho gaye, tere coach ko bhi jaanta hoon.”

Brar has a good record against RCB and delivered a match-turning performance back in 2021 when he dismissed Kohli, AB de Villiers, and Glenn Maxwell — who were the pillars of that RCB batting order — helping his team win the match by 34 runs.

Today, though, Brar dismissed Devdutt Padikkal, who was the other standout performer alongside Kohli. Padikkal scored 61 runs, and his dismissal ended a century partnership with Kohli. However, it didn’t have a major impact on the outcome of the game.

Earlier, in the PBKS innings, none of the batters managed to score more than 40. Prabhsimran Singh was the top scorer with 33 off 17 balls. RCB spinners Krunal Pandya and Suyash Sharma never allowed the PBKS batters to settle. Both spinners took two wickets each, maintaining economy rates under seven.

Chasing the target, RCB lost Philip Salt early in the innings. But Padikkal then joined Kohli at the crease and stitched together a 103-run partnership off 69 balls that all but sealed the match for RCB. Kohli was the highest scorer of the innings, remaining unbeaten on 73 off 54 balls, with a strike rate of 135.19, including seven fours and a six. RCB eventually won the match by seven wickets.
