Punjab Kings (PBKS) and Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) are facing each other in Qualifier 1 of the IPL 2025 at New Chandigarh, Mullanpur. After being asked to bat first by RCB, PBKS were 27/2 in three overs. Then, their skipper Shreyas Iyer came out at number four but got out cheaply, scoring just two runs off three balls. He was dismissed by Josh Hazlewood on a fuller length, caught behind by Jitesh Sharma.
Hazlewood bowled a good-length ball outside off. Iyer attempted a wild hoick but edged it to the keeper. However, it turned out to be the fourth time the Aussie pacer has dismissed the PBKS skipper in the IPL.
Iyer’s record against Hazlewood in the IPL remains poor. After today, Iyer has only 11 runs while facing 22 balls, in which he has now been dismissed four times, with a batting average of 2.75 and a disappointing strike rate of 50.0. In this season, Hazlewood has now dismissed Iyer twice—once in the league stage in Bengaluru and now in the playoffs.
Iyer’s Poor Run in Mullanpur Continues with Another Low Score
Shreyas Iyer’s form at Mullanpur has been disappointing throughout the season. After today, he has only 27 runs to his name in five innings, with scores like 10, nine, 0, six, and two, respectively.
In this crucial match, PBKS needed their batters to stand up, but the team collapsed under pressure, losing wickets like a pack of cards. By the end of the powerplay overs, PBKS had lost four wickets for 48 runs.
