In the IPL 2025 Qualifier 1 between Punjab Kings (PBKS) and Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), PBKS struggled with the bat and the whole team got bundled out for just 101 in 14.1 overs. RCB won the toss and opted to bowl first, and that decision worked in their favour. One of the key bowlers who stood out for RCB was spinner Suyash Sharma.
Suyash bowled a stunning spell that broke the backbone of PBKS’s batting order. He picked up three wickets by conceding only 17 runs in three overs, with an excellent economy of 5.66 that just turned the game in RCB’s favour. His spin, accuracy, and smart bowling caught the PBKS batters off guard in the high-stakes match.
His first wicket was Shashank Singh, who played a wild shot and got bowled. The ball spun sharply, hit the stumps clean, and he went back to the pavilion with three runs. Then came the debutant Musheer Khan as an impact player. He tried a sweep but missed the ball completely and got out LBW with no runs in his debut match.
“Felt like batters did not pick the googly.” – Suyash Sharma
Marcus Stoinis came in as the last hope for PBKS and scored 26 runs off 17 balls, but he also fell to Suyash. Stoinis chose the wrong ball to attack as it spun past the inside edge and hit the stumps. It turned out to be Suyash’s best performance in the IPL.
During the match interval, Suyash talked about the intent of the team and said, “We executed the plans that the coaches gave us. Today I felt good [with the ball]. Felt like batters did not pick the googly. The chat was this was a semi-final but we will take it like a normal game. The previous game we played here helped us.”
