Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) fans had high hopes for Virat Kohli in Qualifier 1 of the IPL 2025 in Mullanpur. Kohli has been going through a great run of form, but in this huge clash, he was handed a rare failure as PBKS pacer Kyle Jamieson dismissed him for just 12 runs.

RCB bowlers displayed some world-class bowling at the Mullanpur Stadium in Chandigarh. Chasing a small target of 102, Kohli came out to open the RCB innings with Phil Salt. They added 30 runs in 3.2 overs, but then Kohli departed.

Virat Kohli now has 614 runs in 14 innings in the IPL 2025

Kohli started the innings well, pulling a short ball from Arshdeep Singh for a four on the first ball he faced. He again sent the third ball of the second over from Kyle Jamieson to the boundary. However, on the second ball of the fourth over, Kohli faced a delivery that had bounce and was outside the off stump; he edged it straight to the keeper, Josh Inglis. He scored only 12 runs from 12 balls, with a strike rate of 100.00. His short innings included two fours.

Though Kohli failed in the first leg of the match between RCB and PBKS, he played a gem of an innings in the second leg. That unbeaten knock of 73 runs from 54 balls proved to be a match-winning effort, along with Devdutt Padikkal’s 61 in that game. Kohli is having a fantastic season, having already accumulated 602 runs before this match, at an average of 60.20 and a strike rate of 147.91.
