
Musheer Khan made his debut in the prestigious Indian Premier League (IPL) today, on May 29, 2025, against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in Qualifier 1 at the Mullanpur Stadium in Chandigarh. However, it was a disappointing debut for him, as his innings was short-lived.
He faced just three balls and was dismissed for a duck. He was adjudged leg before wicket (LBW), with Suyash Sharma claiming his wicket. Though Musheer came in as an impact substitute, he could not make any significant impact on the game.
Who is Musheer Khan?
Musheer is 20 years old and hails from a family originally from Azamgarh, Uttar Pradesh. He was, however, brought up in the suburbs of Mumbai. He is the younger brother of Sarfaraz Khan, who has already made his debut for India. They are the sons of Naushad Khan, a passionate cricket enthusiast deeply involved in their cricketing journey.
In December 2023, Musheer was selected for the India U19 squad for the U19 World Cup held in South Africa. He had an excellent tournament, scoring 360 runs in just seven matches at an average of 60.00 and a strike rate of 98.09, with a highest score of 131. At the U19 level, he has played 14 matches in total and has scored 554 runs at an average of 61.55.
He has also played nine first-class matches, scoring 716 runs at an average of 51.14 and taking eight wickets. In March 2024, Musheer made headlines by surpassing Sachin Tendulkar’s long-standing record to become the youngest Mumbai player to score a century in a Ranji Trophy final. PBKS paid INR 30 Lakh to acquire the services of Musheer Khan this season.
