Punjab Kings (PBKS) will take on Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in Qualifier 1 of the IPL 2025 at Mullanpur in Chandigarh today, May 29.

Here are the top three battles to watch out for in today’s Qualifier 1 clash between PBKS and RCB:

Shreyas Iyer vs Josh Hazlewood

Iyer is leading from the front this season, having already scored 514 runs from 14 matches at an average of 51.40 and a strike rate of 171.91, including five half-centuries. Hazlewood is having a dream season as well, having picked up 18 wickets so far and currently sitting in fourth place on the Purple Cap list.

In past IPL encounters, Hazlewood has dominated Iyer—he has bowled 19 balls to him, conceded just nine runs, and dismissed him three times. Iyer’s strike rate against him is just 47.4.

Virat Kohli vs Harpreet Brar

Kohli is having a fantastic season with 602 runs at an average of 60.20 and a strike rate of 147.91. Brar has taken 10 wickets from seven matches this season. IPL history suggests that Kohli doesn’t attack Brar much.

However, this year, Kohli has adopted a more aggressive approach in the powerplay, which makes Brar a strategic option for PBKS to use early. Kohli has faced 67 balls from Brar and scored 74 runs at a strike rate of 110.44, while getting dismissed twice in the IPL so far.

Jitesh Sharma vs Yuzvendra Chahal

The hero of the last match, Jitesh, has struggled to hit big shots against Chahal in previous IPL seasons. Jitesh has faced 35 deliveries from Chahal and managed just 41 runs at a strike rate of 117.14, while being dismissed three times.
