Pakistan Cricket Board chairman Najam Sethi has come out with a proposal, in a bid to end the current stalemate over which country will host the forthcoming Asia Cup, expected to be held in September this year.
As per the proposal, five teams – Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Afghanistan and Nepal, will play their first round matches in Lahore, Pakistan. India, who have refused to play in Pakistan, will play its first round matches versus Pakistan and Nepal in the UAE.
After the completion of the first round, all Super Four matches plus the final will be held in the UAE. PCB hopes that this hybrid model will be agreed upon by all the countries.
Subsequently, if this model is acceptable to all teams, then Pakistan looks all set to play in the World Cup to be held in India later this year.
