In a candid response to recent criticism, England’s wicket-keeper-bat, Jonny Bairstow, observed that people are entitled to express their opinions. In the first few Tests of the series, Bairstow was criticised for missing chances behind the stumps and also was a tad below-par with the bat. In the Old Trafford Test, however, Bairstow cracked a superb unbeaten 99 off just 81 deliveries.

Bairstow made these remarks during an interview with Sky Cricket. “People can say what they want. They are paid to give their opinion. If they don’t have an opinion, they don’t have a job.”

However, despite Bairstow and Mark Wood’s efforts with the ball, England could be denied a win due to rain threat. “We’ve done everything so far in the game. To get four wickets tonight puts them under pressure.”
