South Africa registered a memorable five-wicket win over Australia in the ICC World Test Championship Final 2025. Leading from the front, the pace trio of Kagiso Rabada, Marco Jansen, and Lungi Ngidi dismantled the Aussie batting in both innings and laid the foundation for this historic win at the Lord’s Cricket Ground, London.
Rabada was the key performer, claiming 5/51 in the first innings and 4/59 in the second, finishing with match figures of nine wickets. An overjoyed Rabada said, “Can’t describe in words how I feel. Extremely happy, we’ve planned well and worked hard. We deserve to be here. People said we haven’tfaced strong oppositions which is rubbish. We beat Australia this time, had to be on our A game. Thanks to everyone for the support, last four days felt like a home game.”
“I am speechless right now.” – Ngidi
Marco Jansen supported him brilliantly, picking up 3/49 in Australia’s first innings and 1/58 in the second. “Don’t know what to say, was sitting there praying, luckily we got the job done. Lot of nerves in the changeroom, lot of guys quiet, but to have the crowd cheering every single run, can’t ask for more. Markram un-frickin-believable, him and Temba took us home. Stuff dreams are made of,” Jansen expressed, still soaking in the glory.
Lungi Ngidi, who went wicketless in the first innings, bounced back to take 3/38 in the second. “I am speechless right now. The other evening with that spell was about to break the game opening. The excitement kept me going. I can’t say much now. I am very proud of what the boys have achieved. It’s been a lot of emotions and the blood pressure is quite high,” said Ngidi, with emotions overflowing.
