Phil Salt, the standout player in Delhi Capitals’ victory over Royal Challengers Bangalore, has revealed details about his verbal altercation with RCB pacer Mohammed Siraj, during the second innings of the match.
Salt, who was opening for DC, smashed two consecutive sixes followed by a boundary on the third ball, while facing Siraj. The pacer appeared to be rattled by Salt’s aggressive play and soon bowled a bouncer, which was declared a wide ball. Siraj then engaged in a heated exchange with Salt, pointing his finger at the batter in frustration. DC captain David Warner stepped in to defuse the situation between the two players.
“I am very satisfied with the knock. Obviously, there was a little bit of a needle. Their boys were up for the last game, when we were in Bangalore. So a lot of the pre-match chat was about really taking it to them, which I felt that we did really well. There were a few words and a bit of needle, but most blokes were up for it, certainly myself,” Salt, who smashed eight fours and six sixes in his entertaining knock of 87 off 45 balls, told reporters during the post-match press conference.
