As we celebrate National Sports Day, we at RevSportz kept thinking to ourselves how best to mark the occasion. We have always stood for multi-sport coverage and we wanted to showcase that in our work. We wanted to celebrate sports in totality and make it special. That’s what we have for you today, and over the weekend.
In hockey, India start their Asia Cup campaign in Rajgir today. After a troubled few months on the pitch, we need the national team to get back on track. At 10am, we have Hardik Singh and Vivek Sagar Prasad speaking to Gargi Raut about the tournament and setting things up.
At noon, we have a very special podcast with Irfan Pathan. It is 25 days since that fantastic Oval win, so it was time to look back and also look ahead. We talked about Mohammed Siraj and Jasprit Bumrah, about Shubman Gill as all-format captain and also about Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma and whether they can play on beyond Australia. We celebrated what Indian cricket stands for, and Irfan at no point held back. It is a fantastic podcast to listen to over lunch.
At 3pm, we have the comeback girl Nikhat Zareen as we set up the World Boxing Championships, which starts in Sheffield next week. India is already there training, and Nikhat’s is a story of resilience and hope. With Ajay Singh back at the helm and hopefully all the administrative issues now history, we hope Indian boxing will soon be back on track.
Exactly a month from now, we have the World Para Athletics Championships in Delhi. And, needless to say, our commitment to Para sport is deep and profound. We will celebrate National Sports Day with a special podcast that has Yogesh Kathuniya talking about the progress of para sport and the way ahead.
It doesn’t really stop there. On Saturday, August 30, it will be one month to go for the Women’s World Cup and 10 days to go for the Asia Cup. We will launch a new show on Sports Tourism and its growth in India, and talk about the sports business domain and the way ahead. It will be a fortnightly show going ahead.
And at 12 noon on Saturday, we have former India captain Anjum Chopra speaking to us at length about India’s chances at the forthcoming World Cup on home soil, which starts on September 30. The World Cup could well be the 1983 moment for the women’s game, and recent form makes us hopeful. India won against England in England, and the signs are good. With strong crowd support coming their way, we expect the World Cup to be the game-changer.
In sum, the National Sports Day weekend on RevSportz is like no other. Every sport, every story and every detail. With reportage and interviews, we continue to live and enjoy our sport. You should as well, with us. At RevSportz, we love what we do. And that’s what keeps us going. On National Sports Day, the pledge becomes stronger.
