Priyansh Arya had a stellar debut IPL season for Punjab Kings (PBKS). Before that, he showcased his talent in the Delhi Premier League and in domestic tournaments. But now, the youngster is aiming for success in red-ball cricket.
“After DPL, I will start preparation for red-ball cricket. Last year as well, I spoke about that I want to play that form of cricket,” Arya told PTI Videos on the sidelines of the Outer Delhi Warriors jersey launch event in New Delhi.
“I will seek advice from my coach Sanjay sir (Bhardwaj) and prepare accordingly. I hope I would be able to make my red-ball debut and not just remain a white-ball specialist next season,” he added.
Sanjay Bhardwaj, his coach, was once also the coach of the current Indian team’s head coach Gautam Gambhir.
“I keep discussing with all the coaches what are the things that I can add to my game to better it and keep working on them. But Sanjay Bhardwaj sir is the only one I talk to, he is the one who guides me what and where I lack, and advises me to work on the same,” Arya added.
Before IPL 2025, Arya had a fantastic Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2023–24, where he scored 222 runs in seven matches at an average of 31.71 and a blistering strike rate of 166.91. He was Delhi’s top run-getter.
He set the IPL on fire with 475 runs in 17 matches at an average of 27.94 and a mind-blowing strike rate of 179.25, including two fifties and a hundred.
