Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) booked their place in the semi-finals of the FIFA Club World Cup 2025 with a 2-0 win over German giants Bayern Munich in the quarter-final. Goals from Desire Doue and Ousmane Dembele sealed the win for the French side.

Despite the scoreline, Bayern Munich had their moments and pushed PSG hard. After the match, Bayern head coach Vincent Kompany expressed his disappointment.

Speaking to the club’s official website, he said: “We weren’t rewarded for a performance that was exactly what was required against PSG. That’s a shame. I knew it would be a close game. It could’ve finished 1-0 or 2-0 to us or them. That’s how it turned out. It was a game with high intensity and high quality.”

Veteran forward Thomas Müller, who played his last game for Bayern Munich, also reflected on the loss. “When you lose, it’s always tough. First, you have to accept it and process it. When you watch the game, it had everything. Our team played well, we really held our own in the first half – also in terms of our tackling and pressing. That’s why they actually took less risk in the second half,” he said.

Luis Enrique Pleased Despite Late Drama

PSG coach Luis Enrique praised his team for their resilience, especially as they finished the match with just nine players on the field. “It was a very intensive game – I was kicking every ball. I knew both teams would get a lot of chances over the 90 minutes. We’re very happy that we won. The ending was a bit crazy and there were a lot of intense situations. And both players who got sent off made it even harder for us to hang on,” he said.

Desire Doue, who scored the opening goal and was named Player of the Match, credited the team’s spirit. “We have a good mindset. It was a collective win in a difficult match. We had to be present in the duels, which wasn’t easy. We’re very glad to have got the win. That’s the most important thing,” he said.

With this victory, PSG will now face Real Madrid in the semi-final on 10 July.
