Punjab FC stunned Odisha FC 3-0 in their own backyard in a Kalinga Super Cup Round of 16 clash, as Asmir Suljic, Pulga Vidal and Nihal Sudheesh found the net to secure Punjab’s place in the quarterfinals. They will face FC Goa, who earlier cruised past Gokulam Kerala with a 3-0 win at the Kalinga Stadium.

Punjab wasted no time in taking the lead, as Suljic opened the scoring in the 14th minute with a delightful dink over the goalkeeper.

In the 69th minute, Vidal doubled the lead with a brilliant solo effort — skipping past a challenge, turning his marker, and unleashing a left-footed strike that nestled into the far corner. A top-quality goal that gave Punjab a strong grip on the contest.

Sudheesh put the game beyond doubt with a clinical third, wrapping up a memorable night for Punjab, who marched into the quarterfinals in style.

Odisha FC, despite starting with four foreigners compared to Punjab’s three, failed to make an impact and left their home fans disappointed with a toothless performance.

Earlier in the day, it was an Iker Guarrotxena show at Kalinga Stadium, as the Spanish forward netted a sensational hat-trick to power FC Goa into the last eight. I-League side Gokulam Kerala showed early promise but failed to capitalise, struggling to break down Goa’s well-organised defence.

Despite impressive performances in their domestic league and other competitions, Gokulam couldn’t cope with the pace, structure, and pressing game of FC Goa, who dominated possession and created numerous scoring chances.

With both Punjab and Goa advancing, a cagey and hard-fought encounter awaits in the quarterfinals. Both teams will step onto the pitch with one goal — securing a spot in the semi-finals.
