Venky Mysore, CEO of KKR, shared insights on their high-priority bid for Venkatesh Iyer. He explained, “We wanted Iyer at any cost. His multifaceted skill set adds immense value and strengthens the team significantly.” Mysore also emphasised the franchise’s focus on retaining their core, maintaining continuity from the 2024 winning combination.

CSK’s head coach, Stephen Fleming, expressed his satisfaction with Ravichandran Ashwin’s return, calling it a “homecoming”. Fleming remarked, “Ashwin’s world-class skill set and versatility make him a key asset. His bowling, batting, and experience will contribute in multiple ways.” He highlighted Ashwin’s adaptability and stated, “It’s not always about price. It’s about how a player fits into the overall strategy.”

Rachin Ravindra’s acquisition was another focal point for Fleming, who expressed surprise at the lack of competition for the young all-rounder. “Given his recent form and success, we thought more teams would go after him,” Fleming noted. He added, “Rachin does what a (Ravindra) Jadeja does currently, and his continued development could open up opportunities. We’re extremely pleased to have secured him at a great price.”

Both Mysore and Fleming seemed optimistic about their strategic decisions, aiming to bolster their squads with a mix of reliable veterans and promising talents.
