Bangladesh posted 119/9 in 27 overs against India in a rain-curtailed clash at the DY Patil Stadium, Navi Mumbai. Several rain interruptions affected the innings, but Radha Yadav shone with the ball, picking up three wickets. But India’s revised D-L target will be 126 runs.

However, the Women in Blue suffered an injury scare as opener Pratika Rawal limped off the field. While trying to save a boundary, her ankle appeared to twist, and she looked in clear discomfort.

The toss was delayed by 35 minutes due to rain. When play finally began, skipper Harmanpreet Kaur won the toss and chose to bowl first. India made three changes to their playing XI — Uma Chetry came in for Richa Ghosh, who had suffered a finger injury during the New Zealand clash and could not keep wickets in that game. It was a special occasion for Uma as she made her ODI debut. India also rested Kranti Gaud and Sneh Rana, bringing in Amanjot Kaur and Radha.

Despite the match carrying little significance for India after sealing their semi-final spot, a large crowd turned up on a Sunday afternoon. But rain struck again just as the players were about to take the field. After nearly one hour and 45 minutes of delay, the game finally began — reduced to 43 overs per side.

Renuka Singh Thakur struck early, removing Sumaiya Akter in the first over. Soon after, Deepti Sharma dismissed Rubya Haider, leaving Bangladesh struggling at 34/2. Their skipper, Nigar Sultana Joty, then joined Sharmin Akhter, but heavy rain returned — this time, much stronger. It poured for nearly two hours before the game resumed again, further reduced to 27 overs per side.

The ground staff worked tirelessly to make the outfield playable, clearing puddles and wet patches. Once play resumed, Bangladesh suffered a setback as Radha’s direct hit from point caught Joty short of her crease. From there, Radha took charge with the ball, claiming three wickets, while N Shree Charani picked up two.

A brilliant catch from substitute fielder Arundhati Reddy dismissed Sharmin Akhter, Bangladesh’s top scorer with 36.
