Mumbai Indians (MI) have brought in leg-spinner Raghu Sharma as a replacement for the injured Vignesh Puthur, who has been ruled out for the rest of the IPL 2025 season. The nature of Vignesh’s injury hasn’t been disclosed, but it cuts short what was his debut campaign in the league.

Raghu’s signing marks his first official appearance in the IPL. The leg-spinner joins MI from the RAPP (Replacement and Auction Pool of Players) list at his base price of INR 30 lakhs.

Vignesh had made a notable start to his IPL career earlier this season against Chennai Super Kings, picking up 3/32 on debut. The left-arm wrist spinner finished with six wickets in five matches, conceding runs at an economy rate of 9.08.

A native of Punjab, Raghu Sharma is a right-arm leg-break bowler with domestic experience for both Punjab and Puducherry. In his first-class career, he has taken 57 wickets in 11 matches at an average of 19.59, including best figures of 7/56. In List A games, he has claimed 14 wickets from nine outings, with a best of 4/37. Though relatively inexperienced in the T20 format, with just three matches and three wickets to his name, he has shown promise.

Raghu has been part of the MI setup this season as a net bowler and has now earned a spot in the main squad after impressing during training sessions.
