In a unique feat, Services bowler Amit Shukla bagged five wickets without conceding a single run en route to his eight-wicket haul in an innings against Haryana during their Ranji Trophy 2025–26 round five match in Lahli.

Amit bowled 20 overs, including eight maidens — five of which came on the bounce. The left-arm spinner conceded 27 runs and claimed eight wickets.

On Day 1, he claimed five wickets before conceding a single run. The following day, he went on to pick up three more wickets.

His career-best bowling figures helped Services bowl out Haryana for 111 and take a healthy lead of 94 runs.

Services posted a total of 205 after being put in to bat first by Haryana. In reply, Haryana were reduced to 20/5, courtesy of a dream spell later on Day 1 by Amit.

Having already taken an eight-for, when Haryana came out to bat in the second innings, Amit will be eyeing his maiden ten-for.

The 22-year-old Nairobi-born cricketer had taken eight wickets in the previous Ranji game against Gujarat. His earlier best bowling figures were 7 for 65, which came on his first-class debut last season against the Ankit Bawne-led Maharashtra side. Since then, he has played only seven games, and the ongoing match against Haryana is his eighth first-class appearance.

This year, many uncapped players have made headlines with their standout performances in Ranji cricket. Among them, Amit’s teammates Arjun Sharma and Mohit Jangra recorded hat-tricks on the same day against the Riyan Parag-led Assam side.
