Ambati Rayudu, the former Indian cricketer and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) player, has shed light on the significance of MS Dhoni’s gesture towards him after CSK emerged victorious in the IPL finale against the Gujarat Titans. Following their thrilling last-ball triumph, Dhoni, the CSK captain, made a heartfelt gesture by inviting Rayudu and Ravindra Jadeja to join him in receiving the IPL trophy during the post-match presentation.
Rayudu’s contribution was pivotal to CSK’s triumph over the defending champions in the final held in Ahmedabad, marking an ideal conclusion to his IPL career.
“Before the ceremony, he called me and Jaddu, saying he wants us to join him in lifting the trophy,” Rayudu told NDTV. “He thinks it was the right moment to do it with both of us. It was really special on his part, I don’t think that has ever happened. That’s the person he is, and the person that the world knows. Overall, it is his gesture.”
Rayudu, 37, bid farewell to all forms of cricket just a day after clinching the IPL 2023 title with CSK. He had previously announced his retirement from the IPL, specifying that the summit clash against the Gujarat Titans would be his final appearance in the tournament. He concluded his illustrious T20 career with a remarkable, record-equalling sixth IPL championship.
