Zimbabwe Cricket has confirmed in a press release that Richard Ngarava and Ben Curran will not be available for the upcoming Test series against South Africa. Pacer Victor Nyauchi and star all-rounder Sikandar Raza will also miss the series.

While Ngarava and Curran are ruled out due to injury, Raza is unavailable because of franchise commitments with the Seattle Orcas in Major League Cricket (MLC). These absences are significant blows for the Zimbabwean team.

The injuries, however, have opened the door for some fresh faces. Uncapped pacer Kundai Matigimu has been called up, while leg-spinner Vincent Masekesa returns to the squad after featuring in the Test series against Bangladesh in April.

Zimbabwe to play two Test matches against South Africa

Pacer Trevor Gwandu also makes a return after recovering from a groin injury. To strengthen the top order, batters Prince Masvaure and Takudzwanashe Kaitano have been added to the squad.

The Zimbabwean batting line-up will look for stability through the experience of Craig Ervine, Sean Williams, and Brian Bennett. All eyes will also be on Blessing Muzarabani, as he remains a key figure in Zimbabwe’s pace attack.

Zimbabwe will play two Test matches against South Africa, both scheduled to be held at the Queens Sports Club in Bulawayo. The first Test is set to take place from June 28 to July 2, while the second Test will be played from July 6 to July 10.

Zimbabwe Squad: Craig Ervine (Captain), Brian Bennett, Tanaka Chivanga, Trevor Gwandu, Takudzwanashe Kaitano, Wessly Madhevere, Clive Madande, Vincent Masekesa, Wellington Masakadza, Prince Masvaure, Kundai Matigimu, Blessing Muzarabani, Newman Nyamhuri, Tafadzwa Tsiga (wk), Nicholas Welch, Sean Williams.
