Romario Shepherd played a blinder against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) today in Bengaluru in the 52nd match of IPL 2025. Shepherd came to bat when the scoreboard read 157-5 in the 18th over, and nobody knew what was coming. In the 19th over, Shepherd hit four sixes and two fours off Khaleel Ahmed. Khaleel conceded 33 runs in that over, which turned out to be a nightmare for him. In the last over, Matheesha Pathirana also got a taste of Shepherd’s power hitting. On the first ball, Tim David did the smart thing by taking a single and giving the strike to Shepherd. Shepherd then hit two fours and two sixes in that over. Pathirana conceded 21 runs in the final over. Altogether, CSK bowlers gave away 54 runs in the last two overs. During the Shepherd storm, the Bengaluru crowd witnessed 10 boundaries. For the seventh wicket, Shepherd and Tim added 56 runs in just 16 balls, with Tim contributing only one run. This highlights the sheer impact of Shepherd’s innings. Shepherd remained unbeaten on 53 off 14 balls, with a strike rate of 378.57, including four fours and six sixes.
Earlier, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) won the toss and put RCB in to bat first. The RCB openers gave them a dream start, reaching 71-0 in the powerplay. Jacob Bethell and Virat Kohli put on 97 runs for the first wicket in just 59 balls. Bethell scored 55 off 33 balls, hitting eight fours and two sixes, at a strike rate of 166.67. Kohli made 62 off 33 balls. None of the other batters made a significant impact. For CSK, Pathirana was the pick of the bowlers with figures of 3/36.
