In the high-octane IPL 2025 final clash between Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and Punjab Kings (PBKS), PBKS won the toss and opted to bowl first. They showcased strong control over RCB, particularly in the final overs, restricting them to just 190/9 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

RCB’s innings was led by a steady 43 off 35 balls from Virat Kohli, along with useful contributions from Rajat Patidar (26 off 16), Liam Livingstone (25 off 15), and Mayank Agarwal (24 off 18). However, the Bengaluru side struggled to accelerate in the death overs, and a big reason for that was Arshdeep Singh’s brilliant final over.

The left-arm pacer had an expensive start, conceding 37 runs in his first three overs. But he made a remarkable comeback under pressure in the final over of the innings, showcasing his composure and skill by picking up three crucial wickets.

Arshdeep Singh finished IPL 2025 with 21 wickets in 17 innings

He began the final over by trapping Romario Shepherd LBW with a sharp yorker while the batter was on 17 off nine balls. Just one ball later, Krunal Pandya tried to go big down the ground but was caught by Shreyas Iyer at long-on for four off five balls. Then, two deliveries later, Bhuvneshwar Kumar mistimed a shot straight to Priyansh Arya and was dismissed for one off two balls.

Earlier in the innings, RCB looked well set for a 200-plus total. They were 87/2 at the halfway mark, but as the innings progressed, the pitch seemed to slow down. The PBKS bowlers, led by Arshdeep and backed by tight spells from others, smartly adapted to the double-paced nature of the wicket. They mixed their pace cleverly and used slower deliveries to great effect, making it difficult for the batters to find timing in the closing overs.

Thanks to Arshdeep’s late burst and a disciplined bowling effort overall, PBKS managed to keep RCB under the 200-mark—a total that once looked very much achievable. The match now heads into an exciting second half, with PBKS chasing 191 to win their maiden IPL title.
