Punjab Kings (PBKS) beat Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in a rain-curtailed match of 14 overs by five wickets at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on April 18, in the 34th match of IPL 2025. This win takes PBKS to the second position in the points table, behind Delhi Capitals (DC). Both teams at the top have 10 points.
Tim David’s Fifty
Tim David scored a fifty in a match where only one other player in his team reached double figures. That highlights the importance of his innings. Without his contribution, it would have been difficult for RCB to even reach 50 runs. Tim remained unbeaten on 50 off 26 balls, with a strike rate of 192.31, hitting five fours and three sixes.
Nehal Wadhera’s Crucial Innings
Nehal Wadhera came in when PBKS were 52 for 3 after 7.4 overs. He not only stabilized the innings but also guided PBKS to victory with an unbeaten 33 off 19 balls, at a strike rate of 173.68, including three fours and three sixes. In a low-scoring game, Nehal stitched together two crucial partnerships — 28 runs with Shashank Singh and 17 runs off just four balls with Marcus Stoinis. These partnerships sealed the match for PBKS.
PBKS’ Bowling Performance
All PBKS bowlers were among the wickets. Marco Jansen, Yuzvendra Chahal, Arshdeep Singh, and Harpreet Brar took two wickets each. However, it was Arshdeep who set the tone early by removing RCB openers Phil Salt and Virat Kohli. RCB never recovered from that blow, and their innings collapsed like a pack of cards.
