Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and Punjab Kings (PBKS) are gearing up for the IPL 2025 Final in Ahmedabad on 3 June. Both teams are still searching for their maiden IPL title, and therefore, fans of both sides will be present in huge numbers. But what if it rains today?

Qualifier 2 had a delayed start due to rain in Ahmedabad, and according to the weather report, rain is expected again during the evening of the final.

There is a reserve day for the IPL 2025 Final

In case today’s game gets washed out or abandoned due to bad weather conditions, hopes still remain for both RCB and PBKS. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has kept a backup in place in case the match doesn’t happen today. In such a case, June 4 (Wednesday) has been kept as the reserve day. The final will then take place on that day.

If the final gets washed out on the reserve day too, then what happens?

If the weather remains the same on the reserve day and rain plays spoilsport again, then the team that finished higher on the points table after the league stage will be declared the champions. In that case, PBKS will be the champions, while RCB will have to go empty-handed.

Both these teams finished the league stage with 19 points each after playing 14 games. But, PBKS finished at the top with a superior net run rate of +0.372 compared to RCB’s +0.301, placed at second.

In 36 IPL matches played so far between these two teams, both RCB and PBKS have won 18 times each. This season, they have already met thrice, with RCB winning twice and PBKS winning once.
