We at RevSportz cover sports. Not just cricket. There are many platforms in the country, which masquerade as sports news outlets, but don’t cover Olympic or Paralympic sport. Perhaps they don’t feel the need for it. Perhaps they feel there isn’t adequate money beyond cricket to justify the return on investment. Whatever be the case, they aren’t really sports news platforms. They are cricket news platforms, or geared only to cover spectacles like the IPL.
That’s why these awards feel good. It is a vindication of the work done and a just reward for the hard yards. Proof that the corporates who backed our vision did the right thing. Evidence that the team of 40 at RevSportz is on the right track to making a difference to the Indian sports ecosystem. In two years of existence, RevSportz has now been recognised by a jury which includes achievers from all walks of life. We have brand backing from India’s leading corporates and support from the country’s best athletes. The multiple awards that we won tonight exemplify what we stand for and what the future holds.

Any way you look at it, 2024 will be an unprecedented sporting year. We have the Olympics and the Paralympics, and also a T20 World Cup and the Euros. Quality coverage from on ground is the way forward. Every sofa is a stadium and the stories go far beyond what we see on television. The fan and his or her emotion is as much part of the story, and that’s where you need to make a difference. Be with India’s athletes wherever they are. So when a Sumit Antil takes gold in Paris, he shouldn’t feel that the media was there for Neeraj Chopra, but not for him. That’s where we let ourselves down. If and when Satwik-Chirag win in France, they shouldn’t feel that had they played cricket, there would be 50 journalists covering their every move.
