South Africa have recalled Ryan Rickelton and Tristan Stubbs to their squad for this year’s ICC Men’s T20 World Cup. Injuries to Tony de Zorzi and Donovan Ferreira have paved the way for the two batters. Both Rickelton and Stubbs have also been added to the squad for the T20I series against the West Indies, which will be played before the World Cup.
De Zorzi has been ruled out with a right hamstring tear sustained during the ODI series against India last month, while Ferreira fractured his left collarbone during the SA20 clash between the Joburg Super Kings and the Pretoria Capitals.
With 337 runs to his name at an average of 42.12 and a strike rate of 156.01, Rickelton has earned his spot. Despite not being in the best of form, Stubbs has also been drafted into the squad.
David Miller suffered an adductor muscle injury during the SA20, which ruled him out of the remainder of the tournament.
The injury has ruled him out of the West Indies series and put his participation in the World Cup in doubt. The veteran batter will be assessed ahead of the start of the tournament. Rubin Hermann has been added to the squad for the T20I series against the West Indies.
