The Delhi & District Cricket Association (DDCA) has announced that two new men’s franchises will be added to the Delhi Premier League (DPL). With the inclusion of the new teams, the league will be expanded to feature eight franchises.
A consortium led by Savita Paints Private Limited has acquired the Outer Delhi franchise for INR 10.6 crore. In comparison, the New Delhi franchise was purchased for INR 9.2 crore by a partnership between Bheema Tolling and Traffic Solutions Private Limited and Crayon Advertising Limited.
These two franchises will join Central Delhi Kings, East Delhi Riders, North Delhi Strikers, Purani Dilli 6, South Delhi Superstarz, and West Delhi Lions in the 2025 edition.
The auction for Season Two will be held on 6 and 7 July in New Delhi. The men’s team auction will take place on 6 July, while the women’s team auction will be held on 7 July.
The auction is expected to be a high-profile event, featuring some of the biggest names in the cricketing circuit—such as Indian Test vice-captain Rishabh Pant, Ishant Sharma, Priyansh Arya, Ayush Badoni, Harshit Rana, Digvesh Rathi, Himmat Singh, Suyash Sharma, Mayank Yadav, and Anuj Rawat—in the players’ pool.
Speaking on the league’s return, DDCA President Mr Rohan Jaitley said: “The Delhi Premier League is more than just a tournament—it is a celebration of the Capital’s deep-rooted cricketing culture. The kind of talent we saw in Season One was truly promising, and with this expansion, we are giving even more players a stage to shine. Talents like Priyansh Arya, Digvesh Rathi, and others emerged through the DPL and showcased their brilliance during IPL 2025, proving the league’s value as a true breeding ground for future stars.”
