Rohit Sharma, who captains India in two formats and the Mumbai Indians in the Indian Premier League (IPL), believes that Twenty20 cricket has undergone a remarkable transformation in the past few years. Despite his stellar record in T20Is and five IPL titles with Mumbai, Rohit suggested that batters constantly needed to evolve to keep pace with the changes.

“As I see it, there is no role for an anchor now,” he said in a chat on Jio Cinema. “It is just how T20 cricket is played these days, unless you are 20-3 or 4, which is not going to happen every day. Once in a while, you will be in that position, and then someone needs to anchor the innings and finish off to a good score. There is no role for an anchor anymore. Guys are playing differently.”
