However, ahead of the South Africa series, the Indian opener has regained the No. 1 ranking with 781 rating points. Mitchell has slipped to No. 2 with 766.

Despite a disappointing performance in the first Ashes Test, Joe Root retains his No. 1 position in the Test batting rankings with 884 points, followed by teammate Harry Brook on 853. After a poor showing by Indian batters in the home series against South Africa, Yashasvi Jaiswal is the only Indian in the top 10 of the Test batting rankings.
