Team India’s ODI captain, Rohit Sharma, has completed a remarkable milestone—18 years in international cricket. To mark the special occasion, Rohit took to Instagram and shared a heartfelt story featuring an image of his helmet along with the date of his debut, captioned: “Forever grateful 23.06.07.” The post quickly went viral, beautifully summing up a career filled with towering achievements and cherished memories.

Tests

Rohit made his Test debut in 2013 against the West Indies at Eden Gardens, where he scored a stunning 177 runs in his very first innings. Over the years, he grew into a reliable opener. In 67 Tests, he scored 4,301 runs at an average of 40.57, including 12 centuries and 18 half-centuries. His highest score in Tests is 212 runs. Recently, Rohit announced his retirement from the longest format, concluding a memorable red-ball journey.

ODIs

Rohit’s ODI career began in 2007 against Ireland, and he has since become a giant in this format. In 273 ODIs, he has amassed 11,168 runs at an average of 48.76. His record of three double centuries in ODIs is unmatched. His highest score of 264 against Sri Lanka remains the highest individual score in ODI history. With 32 centuries and 58 fifties, Rohit has been pivotal in India’s major white-ball campaigns, including Champions Trophy wins in 2013 and 2025, and strong performances in the 2015, 2019, and 2023 World Cups.

T20Is

In T20Is, Rohit made his debut in 2007 and quickly became one of the most explosive openers in the format’s history. He scored 4,231 runs in 159 matches, with five centuries—the joint-most in T20I history—and 32 fifties. His highest T20I score is an unbeaten 121, showcasing his dominance in the shortest format. His last T20I appearance came in the 2024 T20 World Cup final, where India lifted the trophy under his captaincy, capping off a glorious T20I career.
